Important and Time Sensitive News for Residential Contractors working in Arkansas

Anyone who does contract work at a residence in Arkansas will be affected by Act 1208.  Beginning January 1, 2012, anyone doing work at a residence when the project is $2,000 or more including labor and material must have a license from the Contractors Licensing Board.

There is a “grandfathering” period from July 27, 2011 until December 31, 2011.  During that time period not test will be required to obtain a license but you must complete and submit the application to be grandfathered by December 31, 2011.

The penalty for performing work at a residence without a license can be up to $400 per day.
